Welcome to Hub Blog, hosted by yours truly, Jay Fitzgerald. I’m a long-time business and political journalist in Boston, the Hub of the Universe. I first launched Hub Blog in the early 2000s and recently revived it after letting it go dormant for a while. I’ve also started up a companion Hub Blog Newsletter via Substack. As for Hub Blog, I’m not trying to cover every local, state and national news item of importance. Just the topics I find interesting and have the time to briefly write about. As for my politics in these politically polarized times, I like to think I approach issues mostly from a centrist viewpoint. In the early years of Hub Blog, I used to consider myself a moderate conservative, but that was long before the Iraq War debacle, the 2008 Wall Street meltdown, the rise of Donald Trump, etc. I now consider myself more as a moderate liberal who retains a healthy skepticism of both left-wing and right-wing orthodoxies. I see gray areas all around.
