The Suez Crisis in Reverse, Part II

Just pointing out that yours truly isn’t the only one who sees parallels between the Iran War and the Suez Crisis of 1956. Steven Erlanger at the NYT has more. … As for all the Iran War defeatists and Pollyannas out there, Elliot Kaufman’s WSJ column from last week (pre-alleged-ceasefire) still stands. … It’s almost as if we’re in a stalemate situation now. We’ve militarily pummeled Iran – but we’ve achieved none of our stated strategic goals (regime change, eliminating Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities, preventing closure of the Strait of Hormuz).
