‘Street takeover’ attacks, mayhem on Boston Common: they’re watching in Washington

Why do I have the awful feeling that the folks in Washington are monitoring what’s happening in Boston – a city police cruiser torched during a ‘street takeover’ and four Boston police officers injured during a violent pro-Palestinian protest on Boston Common – and drawing up preliminary plans for a troop deployment to the city? They’re just looking for an excuse to intervene here and in other blue states. …  Notice how ICE is now openly appealing to police in Boston to join their deportation efforts. … Mayor Wu seems to sense what’s possibly coming and is forcefully condemning the most recent violence. Gov. Maura Healey seems to be connecting the dots as well and blasting the recent ‘street takeovers,’ as the Globe reports. … But their reactions may not matter in DC.

Update — This is why it may not matter: the president is unhinged. From the WSJ: “Trump Calls for Jailing of Chicago Mayor and Illinois Governor.”

Update II – 10.9.25 – I missed this piece from the Globe’s Joan Vennochi: “Boston police cruiser ablaze: The political fallout from a weekend of urban unrest”

Update III — 10.9.25 – They’re throwing the book at these kids. From the Globe: “Suffolk prosecutors file felony ‘promotion of anarchy’ charges against 13 Pro-Palestinian protesters.”

Update IV — 10.10.25 — From MassLive: “Will violent street takeovers and protests make Boston Trump’s next target for troops?”
